Introduction to Wild Swimming - Curbar

Designed for new wild swimmers as well as those who’ve already started but would like more knowledge to extend their wild swimming journey safely.

In this 7 hour workshop we will cover:

• The benefits of wild swimming;
• Where to swim and the different types of swim locations and experiences;
• Common myths and misconceptions about wild swimming;
• How to swim safely including how to identify and assess risks;
• Environmental considerations of outdoor swimming;
• Equipment. What are you likely to need (or not) to enjoy your dip.

This session isn’t about how to swim fast or far, it’s about how to enjoy the water in the way that’s right for you. Whilst there is a structure to the session there will be lots of opportunity to discuss and ask questions within the group.

We’ll spend the morning going through the theory before we head out for a swim to put everything into practice in the afternoon.

Woodland and Kinder Explorer walk and dip (full day)

Come on a journey around the lesser trodden northern edge of Kinder Scout. Starting in the Woodlands Valley we’ll explore woodlands, waterfall filled cloughs and the famous Kinder plateau. This is my most challenging walk and dip day out covering 16km with 600m ascent. As always, we’ll take the walk at a gentle pace with plenty of opportunity to take a breather and enjoy the views but you do need to be happy on uneven ground with some steep ascents and descents and have a good level of fitness. There will be the opportunity to dip in at least one waterfall pool, possibly more, depending on conditions on the day. Some wild swimming experience recommended.
