Betwixtmas Walk and Dip, Peak District

Bextwixtmas, that odd time between Christmas and New Year when no-one knows what day of the week it is and we all need to blow a few cobwebs away. This session will be based around Curbar in the Central Peak District. The walk will be around 6km at a gentle pace and elevation gain of around 200m with a dip on the way. Recommended packing list, snacks and excellent company included.

Please note: due to the potential for poor weather conditions at this time of year the final meeting place and walk and dip location may change however; it will not be a significant distance from our original meeting point.

£45pp. Over 18’s only

Winter Swimming Workshop

Do you fancy taking the plunge year round? Feeling the chilly zing of winter waters, maybe even breaking some ice? Why not join Peak Swims for a day learning why and how to swim through the winter.

We'll be based in Curbar for the day with some classroom time in the morning before heading out for a swim in the afternoon. The swim will either be in a river or a moortop pool depending on the weather and water levels and will involve a short flat walk to the swim spot.

On the day we'll cover

  • The benefits of winter swimming

  • What to expect from your winter swims

  • Winter specific risk assessing

  • How to deal with emergencies, including identifying and managing hypothermia

  • Winter specific swim kit

You'll also get some take home resources and photos of the swim to look back on.

There will of course be plentiful homemade cake to keep you going through the day. There'll be a range of neoprene socks, gloves and shoes to borrow and wetsuits are available to hire.

This workshop is limited to 6 places to keep it intimate and, importantly, as safe as possible.
