Introduction to Wild Swimming - Calver

Introduction to Wild Swimming - Calver

Designed for new wild swimmers as well as those who’ve already started but would like more knowledge to extend their wild swimming journey safely.

In this full day workshop we will cover:

• The benefits of wild swimming;
• Where to swim and the different types of swim locations and experiences;
• Common myths and misconceptions about wild swimming;
• How to swim safely including how to identify and assess risks;
• Environmental considerations of outdoor swimming;
• Equipment. What you’re likely to need (or not) to enjoy your dip.

This session isn’t about how to swim fast or far, it’s about how to enjoy the water in the way that’s right for you. Whilst there is a structure to the session there will be lots of opportunity to discuss and ask questions within the group.

We’ll spend the morning going through the theory before we head out for a walk and swim to put everything into practice in the afternoon.

£85pp. Water shoes, neoprene gloves, full write up of the session and refreshments included. Please bring a packed lunch. Wetsuits available to hire.

For swimmers who want to try their hand at a slightly more adventurous swim. We'll walk along the River Derwent from Calver, change into swim kit, bag our clothes and swim downstream towing our kit before changing and enjoying a spot of cake waterside. You must be comfortable swimming for 30-40 minutes in water in the mid teens to join this swim. Wetsuits are encouraged but well acclimatised skins swimmers are welcome. Storage tow floats included, wetsuits available to hire. Swim speeds will vary, this isn't a race and we’ll likely do the whole thing breaststroke so we can enjoy the beautiful tree lined river.

Introduction to Wild Swimming - Curbar

FULLY BOOKED

Designed for new wild swimmers as well as those who’ve already started but would like more knowledge to extend their wild swimming journey safely.

In this full day workshop we will cover:

• The benefits of wild swimming;
• Where to swim and the different types of swim locations and experiences;
• Common myths and misconceptions about wild swimming;
• How to swim safely including how to identify and assess risks;
• Environmental considerations of outdoor swimming;

Kinder Explorer, Full Day Walk and Wild Swim

Come on a journey around the lesser trodden northern edge of Kinder Scout. Starting in the Woodlands Valley we’ll explore woodlands, waterfall filled cloughs and the famous Kinder plateau. This is my most challenging walk and dip day out covering 15km with 600m ascent. As always, we’ll take the walk at a gentle pace with plenty of opportunity to take a breather and enjoy the views but you do need to be happy on uneven ground with some steep ascents and descents and have a good level of fitness. There will be the opportunity to dip in at least one waterfall pool, possibly more, depending on conditions on the day. Some wild swimming experience recommended.
